Company Profile

Our company has been supplying the automotive industry since 1991 as NEC Solutions America Automotive Electronics Division. In October 2002, the former NEC Solutions America was formed into Elesys North America Inc. with investment from, and in partnership with HONDA Japan. The combination of these two companies’ advanced technology and extensive automotive experience helped lay the foundation for success and set the stage for the future growth of Elesys.

Vehicle Safety is the focus of Elesys North America. Our technology ranges from Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and passive safety systems to electronic control units such as for suspension, braking, and steering systems. With manufacturing facilities located in the USA, Japan, and China, Elesys has proven itself as a strong and competitive safety system supplier for the global marketplace.

Company Interview on SHARP Designation

Your company has an exemplary safety and health program and illness and injury rate. How did you do it?

Health and safety is a natural part of our culture. When Elesys was established in Suwanee back in 2004, we recognized the value of providing an environment for our associates where safety and health risks are minimized. For Elesys, it's a universal truth that the productivity of our associates is most optimal in a safe and healthy work environment. 

On the other hand, management's support was only part of the equation—as management 'walked the talk', associates began to subscribe to the culture by establishing associate involvement activities and taking a more active role in identifying possible safety risks. As a result, safety and health is more of a habit or discipline than a simple policy statement.  

What has Tech's value been in this process? Are there any differences that you noticed before Tech, and with Tech's involvement?

After 1-2 years of self-managing our safety program, management decided to search for an external set of eyes to identify gaps and areas of improvement.  One of the benefits of working in Georgia is the quality of research and university institutions available for public use, and Georgia Tech’s Safety and Health Consultation Program was the perfect fit for our company.  Tech provided a comprehensive evaluation of our organization’s safety and health program and really grew our safety and health programs to be one of the best.

What does SHARP mean to you, your employees, and the company?

SHARP is a part of our identity.  The SHARP designation validates our commitment to achieving a world-class company through focus on our customers, product quality, and associate's safety.  We set our goals based on moral standards and in a manner that exceeds regulatory requirements—therefore, SHARP designation is the perfect complement for our efforts.
