Experience Summary

In current position at GTRI, provides assistance to small businesses by conducting a comprehensive industrial hygiene survey. Exposures to physical and chemical workplace hazards are measured and evaluated, and recommendations are made of actions necessary to preserve worker health and achieve compliance with regulatory and professional standards

Prior to GTRI, served as Industrial Hygiene Intern at Steward Observatory Mirror Lab. Work included developing, implementing and/or maintaining all components of a Safety and Health Program, conducting task specific job hazards analyses, conducting exposure assessments, performing incident investigations, and providing health and safety training for employees. With the Peace Corps, Kristen designed, implemented, and evaluated multiple grass-roots level, health education projects including: basic hygiene, childhood nutrition, diarrhea prevention and treatment, importance of latrines, crop rotation and proper farming techniques, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, and small business development skills, and evaluated proposals and granted funding to volunteers as one of four members of the Small Project Assistance program.

Worker safety and health; technology transfer and training; public policy concerning occupational safety and health; worker safety and health in developing countries.
